8 Ways to Embrace Your Inner Child

Life can sometimes feel like a whirlwind of responsibilities, obligations, and mundane routines. As we grow older, we tend to forget the simple joys and carefree spirit of our childhood and worry about how we're perceived by others. The days of unrestricted play, unburdened by self-consciousness, can seem like a distant memory. But who says adulthood has to be all seriousness and no fun?

Life shouldn't be full of nothing but formal meetings, endless bills and things that suck the energy out of you. So, I invite you to rediscover your inner child and find time for fun activities that will reignite that spark of joy and wonder in your adult life. So, loosen up, let go of inhibitions, and embrace these childish pursuits because, well, why the hell not?

8 Fun Things You Should Do as an Adult Because It's Fun

1. Get Creative With Travel

Need to move around the office or pass your boss's desk to get to the printer? Why walk you can swivel? Keep your butt on your swivel chair, and get ready for a fun ride! Whoooooosh!

2. Swing Until You Reach The Sky

Use the rides at the park. Not if you don't have a child with you - that would be weird. But if you're taking your kid to the park, hop on the swings! Remember how fun it was when you were a kid and you felt like you were flying?

3. Pig out on Candy

Treat yourself to a bunch of your favourite childhood sweets. Yes, we all know Freddo's have increased somewhat drastically, and we're boycotting them out of shock, but snap up some Pick N Mix or Dip Dabs - anyone else spend their whole childhood thinking they were called 'Dib Dabs'? - and remember why you spent all your pocket money on them.

3. Have a Water Fight

When the weather gets hot, grab some water pistols or water balloons and head outside to have a water fight with your friends or family. It will certainly cool you down and allow you to bring out your inner child again.

5. Build a Fort

Just like you did when you were a kid, grab all the pillows, blankets, and chairs that you can get hold of to create a fort in your living room or backyard. Spend the evening watching movies with your favourite snacks, and you'll feel super cosy, but be warned: you may not ever want to leave.

6. Ride a Rollercoaster

Remember queuing for hours just to go on a rollercoaster that lasts for 2 minutes? Head to the theme park and get yourself a fast-track pass, and go on as many rides as you can stomach. It'll be just as fun as you remember - though you may not be as brave as you were as a teenager.

7. Create an Imaginary Friend

No, not one you actually talk to out loud and tell other people about because they'd think you were nuts, but an alter-ego if you like. It can be an imaginary role model with higher standards to give you something to look up to, or it could be someone that possesses the qualities that you wish to have to motivate you. It's your imaginary friend, so create the one you need to better yourself.

8. Play Dress up

Not in a Spiderman outfit or anything, but why not try out different styles for the day? Surely, you've wondered how you'd dress if you were sporty or a goth? See how you'd look if you had a different style, and you may even find a new one that you like!
